Paul Lukas, aka the Inconspicuous Consumer, used to obsess privately about the picky little details of the world around him; if he'd known how many people would be interested in these obsessions, he would have started writing about them sooner. His "Inconspicuous Consumption" column has appeared in a number of venues since 1993, and his fanzine, Beer Frame: The Journal of Inconspicuous Consumption, has become required reading among people who were really bummed out by the appearance of blue M&Ms. He appears regularly on CNNfn's Biz Buzz TV show and irregularly on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, where the camera does not love him but at least wants to be friends. An anthology of his product reviews, entitled Inconspicuous Consumption: An Obsessive Look at the Stuff We Take for Granted (Crown), has a crummy interior design, but go ahead and buy it anyway.
