So you want to make an independent film. One that's edgy and intense and
irreverent! One that revolutionizes the medium itself!
Step 1: Find a Writing Partner Having a writing partner is very important. Otherwise, who'll do the writing? Sign up for one of those useless, overpriced screenwriting classes and pick the person who chain-smokes and barks pretentiously about Altman's latest during the breaks.
Step 2: Meet for Coffee Don't tell your future partner that you want to collaborate just yet. Instead, make a list of edgy, unconventional story ideas and then invite her out to coffee. Throw the ideas out at random, like you have as many ideas as there are stars in the sky. If she's as industrious, critical, and reactionary as she looks, she hasn't had an idea in decades.
