The Sucksters Predict
As the dinosaur known as "online content" stumbles to the ground, Netizen, like so many of its online brethren, will be dissolved shortly into the New Year. In a counterintuitive twist, Jon Katz founds the "United New Media Artistes," a syndication service that provides tireless rants against Way Old Media to newspapers across the nation. A public outcry against crack-induced "new" journalism forces UNMA out of business, but only after the New vs. Old debate graces the covers of every major newsweekly in the country. David Letterman summarizes public opinion with a joke that is later to become a nationally embraced catchphrase: "I'll mourn the death of Old Media when I read its obituary in The New York Times." courtesy of the Sucksters
